I AM the LORD. That is My name and My glory I shall not give it to another, nor My praise to graven images. Isaiah 42:8 ONMB
God will not share His glory with another (see verse above). And why should He? He is the Almighty God. He is the One who created the heavens and the earth. He is the One who spoke everything into existence by the Word of His mouth. He is the One who fashioned man from the dust and breathed life into him. Who is like our God?! None can compare with Him. He rightly deserves all the glory and all the honor!!
Yes, God will not share His glory with another. Yet in the book of Hebrews (2:10), it says that Jesus brings many sons and daughters to share in His glory. How can that be? Because “in Christ” we are no longer “another.” We are joined together as “One” in Christ. We get to experience the same unity as God the Father and God the Son because we are “in Christ” (John 17:22).
Up until now, I had casually viewed shining forth the Glory of God (see previous devotion). I’ve talked about radiating God’s glory as our destiny . . . and it is. Yet, I’ve failed to comprehend how impossible and ridiculous that sounds. How can a frail human, made from the dust of the earth, radiate the blinding glory of the Almighty God!?
No wonder the religious leaders of Jesus’ day were shocked at His “blasphemous boastfulness.” No wonder unbelievers of today view us incredulously. It is inconceivable! Why would the Creator God choose to dwell inside of His created ones? And yet. . . here we are:
God said, “I will dwell in them and walk among them (2 Cor.6:16).
The Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us (Rom. 8:11).
God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” (Gal. 4:6).
We are filled with all the fullness of God (Col.2:9).
We are crowned with His glory (Heb. 2:10).
Amazing!!
