The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Psalm 19:1
I stopped to marvel at a sunset reflected in a pond. The yellow sun glowed behind dark green trees. Orange, red, and purple bands of color blended seamlessly into the darkening blue sky. Wisps of clouds had highlights of pink and gold. The pond reflected every fleeting color in reverse, as if drawing the attention back to the setting sun. Isn’t God a wonder!
The splendor of nature always reminds me of our Creator. All glory and honor and beauty belong to Him. God is the Beautiful One!
God radiates color and brilliance from His throne in heaven (Rev. 4:3). He is surrounded by a rainbow of color. I wonder if the glassy sea of heaven reflects God’s glowing rainbow of colors. I imagine those vibrant colors reflected in the glassy sea draw the eye and attention back to the Beautiful One who sits on the throne.
The glory of sunsets only mirrors the greater glory of the One who created them. You and I were created in God’s image and likeness (Gen. 1:27). The Beautiful One created us is His beautiful image, and He crowned us with glory and honor (Ps. 8:5). When we glow with the glory and honor God bestowed upon us, we reflect the greater glory of the Beautiful One. All the earth worships God and sings praises to Him (Ps. 66:4). Isn’t God a wonder!
