This blog is the first step to publishing the book I have always dreamed about.

That dream of writing a book was hindered by the lie that I had nothing unique or interesting to share. The courage to start this blog and dream about publishing a book came from the School of Creativity at Bethel Church in Redding California.

The first day of the School, the lies that I had believed disintegrated. I felt free in the wide open spaces of God to create whatever is on my heart!

On the second day of the School, God gave me an idea for a collection of devotions called “Reflections on Beauty.” Hence the name of this blog and my future book!

Because of the School, I believe that the creative gifts God planted in me are just coming into their season and are about to burst forth into full bloom. I am daring to believe that people will stop and smell the fragrance of His creativity in me . . . and give Him glory.

I share this testimony with you because Born to Create by Theresa Dedmon is the School of Creativity encapsulated in book form. I want you to read the book and have a testimony of your own about being released into the creativity that God has planned for you!

Especially if you don’t see yourself as an artist, as I did not, you NEED this book! You need the freedom that comes from hearing the Good News. The Good News that our Creator created each of us to be creative. He endowed each of us with unique talents and gifts in order that He could create with us and through us. He has given each of us a unique message of the Good News that cannot be shared by anyone else. And the exciting thing is that we have the great privilege of partnering with Him in the process!!

Born to Create has plenty of thrilling testimonies of its own. Many of the testimonies are not only encouraging, but they also contain fresh ideas for evangelism. Dedmon concludes each chapter with an activation exercise that I found helpful and inspiring. If nothing else, take a look at the resource section at the back of the book. You will find creative ideas for small groups of both adults and children!

Seriously, every Christian – artist or not - needs to read this book!

Enjoy!
