Taken out of the side of Jesus

The Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” For this reason, a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:22-24

God pierced Adam’s side to give him a bride. And the Last Adam - Jesus Christ - His side was pierced to give Him a bride!

Blood and water came out of our Lord Jesus’ side. It was His redemptive blood and the water of His Word that gave us life – spiritual life. I have a fresh understanding of my “Oneness” with my Bridegroom now. I don’t need to wait for the wedding supper of The Lamb to be His bride. I already am! God created a bride for Jesus out of the blood and water that poured from His side.

Eve was taken from Adam’s side to be his helpmate. Likewise, we were taken out of Jesus’ side to be His helpmate. What was Adam and Eve’s mandate? Be fruitful and multiply; and Eve birthed many natural children. Our mandate with our Helpmate is the same: Be fruitful and multiply. We will bear many spiritual children!

My fuller, richer, understanding of my relationship with my Bridegroom, inspired me to rewrite the verses above. Yes, I’ve used some creative license, but it is all scriptural. So instead of looking for theological errors, just enjoy it as a devotion.

  • The Lord God fashioned into a Bride the blood and water which He had taken from Jesus, and gave her to Him.

  • Jesus said,

  • “She is now holy and pure,

  • Justified by My blood (Romans 5:9)

  • Cleansed by the washing of the pure water of the Word of God (Ephesians 5:26)

  • She shall be called Christian because she was taken out of Christ.”

  • For this reason, Jesus had to leave His Father and Mother in heaven, and be joined to His Bride; they have become One.

Amen and Amen!
