I shall stand my watch and set myself on the tower and will watch to see what He will say to me and what I will answer when I am reproved. And the LORD answered me and said, Write the vision and make it plain upon tablets, so he who reads it can run. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it will speak and not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it, because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
Habakkuk 2:1-3 One New Man Bible
This passage encourages me today. Like Habakkuk, I’ve been standing and praying for “my people” for decades. I had begun to despair over my vision for my loved ones.
God’s answer to Habakkuk encourages me greatly:
(1) “Write the vision. . .” My vision for my loved ones is NOT a pipe dream; it is NOT wishful thinking. My vision is God’s vision. He is the One who gave me this desire in my heart for their good. In fact, God waits on high to be gracious to them (Is. 30:18).
(2) “Make it plain on tablets, . . .” Record the vision so that it will be a testimony to those who read it later. I have journaled my prayers for my loved ones. Rereading those prayers encourages me. Imagine how it will encourage them when the visions come to pass!
(3) “The vision is for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak and not lie.” God has given the vision; it WILL come to pass! He has an appointed time for their salvation or deliverance or healing. Our God is a covenant keeping God. He cannot lie. His every word will be established.
(4) “Though it tarries, wait for it, because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” It seems to me that these visions for my loved ones are taking too long to come. But the encouragement here is to be patient. Wait for the vision. God has an appointed time; it will surely come. It will not be late according to His time. Praise God!
I am so encouraged to wait on God’s perfect timing! I pray that you are encouraged in your waiting too. Bless you!
