Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25 NKJV
Panic laced her voice as she asked me to meet her. I didn’t know her well, and I was packing to leave town. But her breathless desperation pulled me from my home. She spilled her story with tears and hopelessness. The dark side had sucked her back in. She had left her husband and children, and returned to her destructive lifestyle. She grieved for the pain she had caused her family. She felt trapped - unable to free herself from the clutches of the enemy. She planned to take her own life.
Have you ever had to intervene in someone’s life? Somehow, I find myself in that situation often. I have no education or training that qualifies me for this. So, I suppose I ought to be afraid. But I’m not.
Intercession is God’s intervention. When I am faced with an intervention, I don’t rely on my own understanding. I go directly to prayer. God is the One with all the answers. I am confident that when I intercede for someone, God will intervene.
God lovingly knits us together in our mothers’ womb. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He loves us so much that He sacrificed His Son to have an intimate relationship with us. God has a plan and a destiny for each of our lives. He wants us to fulfill our destiny even more than we do.
At the conclusion of her breathless story, I did what I always do. I prayed. One thing I prayed was that she would hear from God for herself. And she did. God spoke straight to her heart. She heaved a sigh of relief, as hope and peace flooded her soul.
I am happy to report that she is back with her family. I am not saying it was quick and easy because it wasn’t. Victory took years of hotly pursuing God. Today, God is using her to free others from that same destructive lifestyle.
I interceded, and God intervened.
