My father set an expectation when I went away to college that I would visit him often, especially for the holidays. He loves me and was going to miss me. My father longs to spend time in my presence simply because he loves me.
My Heavenly Father has the same longings in His heart. He loves me, and He misses me. He wants me to visit Him often. Because He is God, He created biblical holidays hoping that I (and His other children) would come to visit Him.
This is God’s heart behind the sacrificial system in the book of Leviticus. He longs to spend time with the children that He loves. Unfortunately, because of our sinful nature, our flesh would be incinerated in His presence. So, God created the blood sacrifice to cover our sins, so that we could spend some time together. Praise God for Jesus’ blood that atones for our sins, so that we can be in the presence of our Holy Father!
Our Heavenly Father has set an expectation that we visit Him often, especially on the holidays or feasts that He created. He loves us and misses us. He longs to spend time in our presence simply because He loves us. Our Father invites us to celebrate His feasts together with Him.
God’s fall feasts in 2021 are: Feast of Trumpets on September 7, Day of Atonement on September 16, and Feast of Tabernacles on September 21. Come, let us celebrate His feasts with Him!
Heavenly Father, show me how to celebrate with You on Your feast days. I desire to be with You on Your special days as much as You desire to be with me.
