And God said, “Light, Be!” And there was light. Gen.1:3 ONMB
The trinity of God is right here in this first sentence! In fact, these four words speak volumes: God said, “Light, Be!”
In the beginning God – “Elohim” in Hebrew – created the heavens and the earth. “Elohim” is God plural; coupled with a singular verb it denotes the majestic plural. So the character of God that is emphasized when He spoke His first Word is that of plurality and unity and power.
The Spirit of God is “ruah Elohim” in Hebrew. “Ruah” is breath or wind. So the Spirit of God is the breath of God. This is important because our voice is carried on our breath. Without wind we could not utter a single word.
As you know, Jesus is the Word who became flesh (see the gospel of John). So there is Trinity, in all His Glory!!! Elohim (the majestic plural God) used His breath (His Spirit) to speak His Word (Jesus)!!!
And what is the first Word that Elohim, the majestic plural God, spoke? It is not, “Let” as in “Let there be light.” That is the English translation. The first audible Word of Elohim is “Light!” as in “Light, Be!” And who is the Light of the World? Jesus! Who is the Light of Men? Jesus!
I wonder if every time we hear the audible Word of God there would be some aspect of the character of Jesus? That would be worth further study.
