DO NOT FEAR!

Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today;” Exodus 14:13

Jesus answered him, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.” Luke 8:50

I noticed how similar these two verse sounded.  In the first verse, Moses and the children of Israel had just left Egypt.  The Egyptian army chased after them and overtook them camping by the Red Sea.   The children of Israel were frightened and cried out to the Lord.  It is at this point that Moses said, “Do not fear!  Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord.”  And God delivered them, from their enemy, through an impossible situation.

In Jesus’ day, Jairus was in a similar panic situation.  His only daughter was dying. Jairus fell at the feet of Jesus imploring Him to come.  But while they were on the way, someone came to tell Jairus, “Don’t bother the Teacher. Your daughter has died.”  It is at this point that Jesus gave a very similar reply, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.”  And Jesus delivered Jairus’ daughter from death!

The similarity of these verses caused me to see a pattern for every panic or crisis situation:

1-   DO NOT FEAR!  Fear is always of the enemy.  Fear is the opposite of Faith.  So God tells us to resist the enemy; DO NOT FEAR!

2-   ONLY BELIEVE or STAND STILL!  Believe in the promises of God.  Stand your ground!  Do not be moved by what you see.

3-   SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD!  God is the One who will do it!  He will make a way of escape.   He will deliver you in every crisis!

What crisis are you facing today?  Are you in a panic?  Don’t fear!  Believe Jesus IS who He said He is.  And see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today!

AMEN!!
