Book Review of:
Hearts of Fire; Eight Women in the Underground Church and Their Stories of Costly Faith
Published by: Voice of the Martyrs Books
I am embarrassed to tell you how long this book was on my bookshelf before I read it. Let’s just say, “months.”
I was concerned I might be sad and depressed reading it. So, I waited for a convenient time. But when is depression convenient? Finally, I just started reading. If I didn’t like it, I didn’t have to finish it.
I loved it!
Each of the eight women’s stories are heart-wrenching, of course. Yet, their stories highlight God’s victory in their life and their culture. Each woman declared that Jesus was worth it all. In fact, their experiences only increased their desire to see God glorified.
I enjoyed the book so much that I found the movie produced by Voice of the Martyrs that was gathering dust on my shelf. I watched that too.
Rather than being depressed, I am inspired. Jesus is worth it! He is worth every ounce of effort and every drop of blood. I am more determined than ever not to waste the time I’ve been given. Now is the time to make an impact for the Kingdom of God!
