But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
Linda and her husband jumped at the chance to plant a church with two other couples. They delighted when God blessed their rural church with 200 members. The church continues to grow, and their prayers for a building have been answered. Even though she is certain of God’s leading, Linda pauses before she signs mortgage papers for an amount that is many times their annual income. Even with co-signers, she knows they would never be able to meet the financial obligation without divine intervention.
This is a test of faith for Linda and her church planting team. Jesus will test us (Jer.17:10). He wants to know if we love Him more than anything else. Of course, Jesus already knows our hearts. He tests us so that we will see what is first in our hearts. In this case, Jesus is asking Linda, “Do you trust Me?” Every test of faith is an invitation to worship.
Every act of obedience is a pleasing aroma to God because we are offering our lives on the altar. To worship means “to serve.” So, worshiping is more than just singing and praising; worship is a lifestyle. Our every “yes” is worship.
Have you trusted God for something bigger than yourself, like Linda? That is worship. Do you continue to attend church when no one else in your family will? That is worship. Have you chosen to follow the nudge of the Holy Spirit when it wasn’t convenient or comfortable? That is worship.
Choosing to follow Jesus in the good times and the bad, is your spiritual act of worship. Be encouraged because God richly rewards those who diligently seek Him. Continue to give Him your “yes.” Continue to worship Him. Your reward is coming, and it’s more abundant than you can think or imagine.
