I got a rare and treasured gift today, a thank you card. In addition to the baby gift, Laura thanked me for the years of prayer and godly example. Her Mom and I have prayed together for over 20 years. Laura’s card reminds me that even though my sphere of influence is small, it is significant.
I long to have a greater impact for the Kingdom of God. Not for my sake, but for His. Jesus desires that not even one would perish, but that all would turn their hearts to Him. So, my heart also burns to draw thousands into a saving relationship with Him, like in the evangelistic crusades. Jesus longs to see His beloved ones walking in the freedom and authority He purchased for us. So, my heart aches to see all the captives set free and transformed into a kingdom of priests (1Pet.2:9).
Wouldn’t I love to have the impact of the Apostle Paul who turned the whole world upside down (Acts 17:6). But my influence is small. I cannot travel the world as an itinerate preacher, like Paul did. I have not been called to preach to thousands at a crusade. My reach is small, but significant.
God is pleased that He has my heart. He delights in my desire to see His Kingdom come to the earth. He knows that my reach is small because He has all my days mapped out for me (Ps. 139:16).
Through Laura’s note, God reminded me that my life is significant because the people I reach are significant. God loves them and seeks to bless them. Jesus left His comfortable home in heaven to suffer and die to rescue them. Jesus gave His all for them; they are significant to Him.
God loves to partner with me to reach those He brings across my path.
I hope you are encouraged to continue the journey with God no matter how small or great your influence may be.
